The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationsmong gender, fields, work values, and decision styles. Subjectsere 258 managers chosen from four fileds--manufacturing;ommerce; social, personal and related community services;griculture, forestry, fishing and animal husbandry. The ratiof males to females was about the same. Each subject was askedo complete a questionnaire containing scales for measuring workalues and decision styles. The results showed that subjects made much of the first sixork values as follows: supervisory relations, associates,chievement, intellectual stimulation, way of life, and altruism.hey made little of work values as follows: esthetics,anagement, variety, economic returns, and surrounding. Besides,here were significant gender differences in work values. Ineneral, we found that females put more emphasis on supervisoryelationsmore than males did, but males put more emphasis onntellectual stimulation. In different fields, there were alsoignificant differences in work values. But the interactionffect, gender by fields, had significant differences insthetics and creativity. Furthermore, there were significant gender differences inecision styles. Most females had a perference for behavioraltyle, but males perfered both behavioral and directive style.n different fields, there were not significant differencesxist in managers'' decision styles. However, different decisiontyles of managers in intellectual stimulation, indepence, andariety had significant differences existed. Finally, this studyrovides a valuable reference for an organization in selectingxcellent managers with appropriate work values and decisiontyles, thus the function of organizational management can bettained to maximum.
