This paper is focused on the institutions of the European Economic Area(EEA) and the functions of them. The findings of this thesis show as fllowing: In step with the further developent of the Community in EEA revelent area, the strucure of the institutions of the EEA based on that of the European Union (EU). They are the origional institutions of the EU, which are the Council, Commission, Parliament and Court of Justice; the correspondent institutionsof the European Free Trade Association(EFTA), which are EFTA Surveillance Authority and EFTA Court; and the new insititutions of the EEA, which are the EEA Council, EEa Joint Committee, EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee, and EEA Consultative Committee. Within the EFTA, in a way that corresponds to the EC Commission and the ECJ, the ESA and the EFTA Court are in charge of the surveillance and juidical countrol with regard to the EFTA states'' fulfillment of the obligations under the EEA Agreement. Wheras the EFTA states don''t transfer their legislation power to EEA, the real competence s of the EFTA corresponding institutions are limited. With regard to the assessment into EU of the three EFTA member states, what is the future of EEA? In fact, it depends on the attitudes of the EEA member states. First of all, they can keep the present strucure of EEA. Secondly, They can treat it as a "waiting room" for those who willong applying the accessment of EU. Anyway, Suprational institutions have gradually become another important role in the international society. It worths thinking about the future development.
