In recently years,some materials which is better in thermal and mechanicalproperties are desired in some application. Polyethylene naphthalate(PEN) andPolybutylene naphthalate(PBN) have attracted wordwide attention because oftheir superior thermal,mechanical,barrier and chemical resistance properties. Numerous research works are currently underway to develop commercial application for these new high performance polyester. In noncrystalline property of PEN.In the other hand,we are also hoping to improve solubility and processability of PEN,PET and to reduce the cost of PEN. In the research,we synthesis the BHEN by directly esterizing in the firststep.In order to enhence the reaction rate of esterizing,we adopt the way ofmother-liquid method.The method can improve the dissolving proportion of 2,6-NDA.That make the reaction occurt under a homogeneous system and speed upthe reaction rate dramatically. Another intermidiate BHCN is synthesis by transesterification method.In theesterizing reaction,we choose 3 kinds of catalyst which we often use and thenfind the activity of the 3 different catalysts is like this:Ti(OBu)4 > Sb2O3 > Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O We use the method of copolymerization to synthesis copolyester in differentproportion and test their physical properties.In that we find that if the feedratio is between 90/10 to 60/40 in the series of PCEN copolymer,it will resultin amorphous polymer. While in the experiment of PCET polyester,when the feedratio of EG/1,4-CHDM is between 85/15 to 60/40,the product of polyester is belong to amorphous polyester with random structure.From the thermal propertyanalysis,we also can see the copolyester all have good thermalstability.
