In this thesis, a dynamic energy interpolating ircuit is proposed to substitute for the static transferwitch (STS) of the off-line UPS's. This circuit is ableo provide the output for off-line UPS's about 4 milli-econds while a blackout occurs but the inverter doesn'ttart to take over the UPS output yet. It means that theff-line UPS with dynamic energy interpolating circuitill have the feature of zero transfer time switching fromhe line mode to the inverter mode. This circuit consistsf a transformer booster and AC capacitors which areesonant with each other in the utility frequency. Thewitched-capacitor technique is included to overcome theoltage drop of the resonant circuit for achieving theominal output voltage after utility blackout. One methodf detecting the blackout point is also introduced.
