台灣地區六十五歲以上人口,自民國79年12月之 1,006,273人(佔總
人口數百分之六點二左右),以5.54 %的年成長率持續成長,據經建會估
計,民國八十九年台灣地區六十五歲以上人口佔總人口比例將增為百分之
八點七,顯示台灣地區未來人口結構即將步入高齡化的社會。而目前絕大
多數的交通運輸系統與相關設施,無論在設施規畫、設計或營運方式,都
以正常人生理與心理狀況為標準,但對老年人來說,這些現存的設施可能
反而形成了另一種形式的阻礙。本研究主旨即在提供老人使用公眾運輸(
公車)時,能夠在無障礙的資訊環境下旅行。由於老年人的定義有所分歧
,首先界定在本研究中對老年人的定義,接著對老人使用目前公車系統設
施現狀加以探討,其次針對公車招呼站牌沿線站名文字做四種不同的實驗
處理,將老年人搭車的行為,如等車行為、上車行為加以定義與歸類。經
由行為觀察法,在自然情境下觀察老人對不同實驗處理的行為反應。由行
為觀察中,可發覺許多目前公車系統的設施設計並未考慮到老年人的特性
,有許多有關老人使用公車系統的問題被忽略。本研究可作為政府設置公
車站牌資訊無障礙及作為公車業者的參考,希望能對老年人「行」的方面
有所助益。
The population with an age of more than 65 years old
inhabited in Taiwan is1,006,273 persons (5.54% approximately) on
December 1986. Based on the reportpublished by CEPD(Council for
Economic. Planning and Development ExecutiveYuan, Republic of
China)in 1993 ,the proportion of the aged to total population
will be 8.7% at the year of 2000.According to the definition by
United Nations, Taiwan''s society will be at the stage of the
aged. However, most transportation systems and their relevant
facilities do not take the specific requirements of the aged
into account. In other words, all of the transportation related
service set their physical design and operationstandards for"
normal" people. Forthe aged, the existing
transportationfacilities become some kind of hindrance. The
primary purpose of the thesis isto propose measures for
smoothing information environment for the aged to usepublic
transportation modes(i.e. bus!in the study).The study focuses on
thepath from extracting information from bus stop, waiting for
the bus, getting onthe bus and staying on the bus, for the
oldpersons.Owing to different definitions on "the aged" from
various data sources and government agencies, thestudy clarify
the definition first. Current status of the aged using bus
system in Chung-Li is surveyed in March 1996.Experimental design
for four kinds of character size on bus stop is conducted to
examine the behavior of riding bus for the aged, such as waiting
for and getting onbuses.Behavior observation method is employed
to observe the aged in natural environment.Based on
theexperimental data analysis, many problems
specificallyhappened to the aged whoride on bus are found. These
findings may be helpful for government agencies to install non-
hindrous transportation facilities to the aged. Moreover, the
findings may also be helpful for bus operators to assist the
aged to ride buses.
