自84年4月起至85年3月間在屏東縣霧台鄉霧頭山自然保護區內,以自動照
相設備研究刺鼠在野外之活動模式以及影響其活動之因子。同時在樣區內
進行個體的捕捉與標記,以瞭解族群量的變化和雌雄個體的活動差異。結
果顯示刺鼠的日活動模式主要受三個因素影響:日照、月亮週期與進食需
求。刺鼠為典型的夜行性動物,且其每日的活動開始時間會隨著白晝結束
時間而改變;在夜間活動量及活動模式則受到月亮的影響,活動集中在月
沒的時段;但是月出在前半夜時,亦會因為進食的需求而在月出的時段活
動。而在一個月亮週期中每個階段的活動量也有所差異:滿月階段的活動
量最低,而新月前與新月後階段各有一個高峰期,新月階段的活動量則居
中,顯示刺鼠在月光最強(滿月)與最弱(新月)的時期均有降低活動的
現象。在一年之中刺鼠的活動量也存在著月變化,其活動量的月變化主要
是受建立活動範圍、進行繁殖與逃避天敵等因素影響。
The activity pattern of spinous country rats(Niviventer
coxingi) and the affecting factors were studied by auto-
triggered cameras from April 1995 to March 1996 in Wu-tou Mt.
Nature Reserve, Ping-Tung. Trapping and marking also proceeded
in order to estimate population size and study the difference
of activity pattern between males and females.Results showed
that the cicradian rhythm of N. coxingi was influenced
sequentially by the solar illumination, lunar cycle and the
feeding requirement. N coxingi is strictly nocturnal animal.
Their initiation of daily activity is according to the time of
sunset. The amount and the pattern of activity during the night
time, however, were coincided with lunar cycle. Their activity
occurred mostly during moonset, but in the period when moonrise
before midnight, they will still active because of feeding
requirement. In each stage of lunar cycle, the activity pattern
was different: they were least active at full moon period,
mostly before and after new moon, and moderately at new moon
period. Thus it appeared that both the maximal and minimal
lunar illumination depressed their activity level. There was
also a monthly fluctuation in their activity level during the
year. The home range establish- ment, reproductive status and
predator avoidance were regarded to be the major factors caused
the monthly fluctuation observed in the present study.
