The purpose of this study was to predict and understand health locusof control (HLC) and self-concept in correlation with the age, religion, working situtation, military service of male students in the eveningdivision of a junior college. The influence of background, related factors health of control and self-concepts on the betal nuts chewing behavior of the subjects was another focus of the study. The population was male students studing in the evening division of a junior college. By using a cluster sampling method, 301 subjects wereselected. After conducting the field survery with a self-designed questionnaire,296 valid samples we collected. The major results of the study are as follows:1.For HLC the subjects got the highest score in the aspect of chance externality health locus of control (CHLC), The lower score in the powerful others heslth locus of control(PHLC), and the lowest in the internality health locus of control (IHLC). In terms of self-concept, the mean score was 238.14.2.Age, religion, working stiuation and military service had no significant correction with self- concept. However, the subject who have finished their military service has higher self-concept.3.There was a significant postive correction between CHLC and self-concept, while the other types of HLC had no significant correction with self- concept.4.There was no significant difference between those who chews betal nuts and those who doesn't chew betal nuts in HLC and self-concept score.5.Smoking and drinking behaviors had the highest ability to predict the subjects' betal nuts chewing behavior.
