The hardware of the computer is being improved continuously and therefore enhanced the performance of the calculation. By matching with the high performance computer, an easy operation and user friendly computer software is badly needed. The purpose of this study was to construct a software for the design of S&A Devices. The theoretical analyses were categorized into three parts. They are kinematic analysis of matched gears, kinematic analysis of escapements and dynamic analysis of S&A devices. The dynamic behavior of the mechanical systems was divided into three phases as contact-mode, freeflight-mode, and impact-mode. By using the concept of modularization, the computer codes were built in the order of design of gears, motion simulation of gears, design of escapements, simulation of escapements and finally the simulation of S&A devices. The AutoCAD ADS-C language was employed for editing the computer code in which the DCL was easy to use for communicating with the users. The program may be executed in the environment of AutoCAD software. The results of this research are useful for those who work on the escapement design.
