This thesis study the cell-splitting technique in the CDMA cellular system. We examined a new cell-splitting mechanism by considering the CDMA IS-95 requirement. We also employed the power control method to study how to increase system capacity. The simulation shows that 50% blocking probability can be tuned down to critical 2%, and the capacity can be increased to 1.64 times. In summary, we conclude that cell-splitting in CDMA cells does not provide large increment of capacity but have good performance in reducing traffic blocking.
