In this work , heat dissipation process from the power cable placed inside of a underground concrete duct is studied . In consideration of highly eccentric configuration , the algebraic grid generation method , proposed by Liou and Jeng (1995,1996) , associated with body-fitted coordinate system is used to transform the physical coordinate into the computational coordinate . The transformed governing equations of the natural convective problem are solved in a nonstaggered grid system in association with the SIMPLEC algorithm and QUICK scheme . It is found from both two-dimensional and three-dimensional formulations that the maximum temperatures are all occurred at the top of the cable no matter what boundary condition (adiabatic or constant wall temperature) in the surface of concrete duct is specified .
