本篇論文以合成設計不同結構形式之配位基及其金屬錯合物;如單元一
diketone形式之bis[4-(4'-alkoxybenzoxy)phenyl butane-1,3-
dione]metal系列,單元二Schiff base形式之bis[N-(3-
hydroxypropyl)-4-(4'-alkoxybenzoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato]metal
系列,單元三為Schiff base形式之{N,N'-ethylene-bis[3,5-di(4'-
alkoxybenzoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato}metal以及[N,N'-ethylene-
bis(3,5-dialkoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato]metal 系列,與單元四
tetraketone形式之bis(1,1'-(1,3-phenylene)-bis[3,3'-(3",4",5"-
trialkoxyphenyl)-1,3"-propanedione] metal系列。分子設計中藉著改
變兩邊側鏈柔軟支鏈之長度、數目、位置,含金屬與否,及含不同金屬中
心而形成之錯合物,來探討其對液晶相形成所產生之影響。實驗藉1H及13
C-NMR鑑定合成化合物之結構及純度,IR圖譜儀確定金屬錯合物之形成,
並由元素分析確定錯合物之純度。液晶相探討部分,藉偏光顯微鏡下對不
同相溫度變化範圍及液晶相種類作一初步觀察,再以DSC對相變化溫度及
熱含量變化判別,最後藉XRD對液晶相結構做鑑定。實驗結果得知,單元
一配位基及銅錯合物具有smectic phase;單元二配位基及銅錯合物具有
smectic phase;單元三{N,N'-ethylene-bis[3,5-di
(4'-alkoxybenzoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato}copper只具結晶相,[N,
N'-ethylene-bis(3,5-dialkoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato]copper具液
晶,確實相結構需進一步探討;單元四bis(1,1'-(1,3-phenylene)-bis
[3,3'-(3",4",5"-trialkoxyphenyl)-1,3"-propanedione]metal (metal=
Cu、VO、Ni) 三者皆為盤狀液晶,其相結構為Dhd phase。

This thesis describes the synthesis and characterization of
various types (series I , II , III and IV) of organic ligand
structures and their complexes with different transition metal.
For example, series I ; bis[4-(4'-alkoxybenzoxy)phenyl
butane-1,3-dione]metal. series II ; bis[N-(3-
hydroxypropyl)-4-(4'-alkoxybenzoxy)benzoyl acetone
iminato]metal. series III ; {N,N'-ethylene-bis[3,5-di(4'-
alkoxybenzoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato}metal and [N,N'-ethylene-
bis(3,5-dialkoxy)benzoyl acetone iminato]metal. series IV ;
tetraketonebis(1,1'-(1,3-phenylene)-bis [3,3'-(3",4",5"-
trialkoxyphenyl)-1,3"-propanedione]metal. By altering the
carbon length, the numbers, and the substituted position of the
terminal flexible side chains , and /or their complexes with
different metal centers, the formation of liquid crystallinity
and the mesomorphic properties were characterized and also
studied in detail. For the spectroscopic characterization of all
compounds, 1H and 13C NMR spectra were used to identify the
structure and the purity of the organic compounds, IR spectra
was used to confirm the formation the metal complexes by
observing the characteristic absorption frequency, and elemental
analysis was finally used to confirm the purity. DSC analysis,
optical polarised microscopy and XRD diffraction were used to
characterize and confirm the structure of the liquid crystalline
mesophases. Experimental data indicated that series I , and II
, ligands and copper complexes all exhibited smectic phases,
however, series III ; ligands and copper complexes exhibited
only crystalline phases. Serious IV ﹔Cu, VO, Ni complexes, all
exhibited discotic hexagonal disordered phases.
