In thesis, we use the finite element method to calculate the thin-film head field, to understand the recording fields of various head with different geometric shapes, so that we could apply a magnetic head for better performance. From the calculation, we know that a model of bevel head have a betterperformance in the lower flying high of y=1/8g.Also, increasing the recording density by reduce the head width are very limited. And, apply an external shielding can reduce the field outside the boundary by 30% to 1%, effectively limit therecording field to increasing the recording density.
