本論文共分四章加以探討《阿含經》的「慈悲」思想。首先，在第一章敘
述了「有關慈悲的諸問題」，以及寫作動機、方法、論述要點。其次，在
第二章對「慈悲」語義進行探討。在此，因漢巴各有特點，乃將漢譯《阿
含》與巴利聖典《五部》分開討論。根據歸納整理，發現南北傳的「慈悲
」都有兩層意含。一是日常生活中的慈悲，另一則是與修定有關的慈悲。
並且前者是後者的基礎，後者是前者的深化。接著，在第三章敘述了《阿
含》的慈悲思想。根據資料歸納結果，可分兩部分來說明。一是佛陀的慈
悲，另一則是佛陀弟子的慈悲。不論是佛陀或是佛弟子的慈悲，都不離戒
、定、慧三學。這也反映出《阿含》的慈悲思想乃是一個完整人格?知、
情、意三方面平衡發展的呈現。此外，這兩部分呈現了密切的關係。亦即
佛陀不僅從知、情、意三方面教導弟子慈悲，在現實生活中，在知、情、
意三方面，他自己就是弟子所效法的?活生生的榜樣。最後，在第四章總
結以上的討論，指出四《阿含》慈悲思想的特色。此外，嘗試對「有關慈
悲的諸問題」加以解答，並提出今後尚待努力的方向。

There are four chapters in the thesis. First, in Chapter 1
the author tells us that questions related to compassion and
the writing motive, methods and key points in the thesis.
Secondly, in Chapter 2 he studys the meaning of"compassion" in
the Canon. As there are differences in the Chinese and Pali
Agamas, he seperates the two texts in the studying. According
to the research,he finds out that there are two kinds of
compassion, one an experience in daily life, the other the
meditational practice of the Four Immeasurables. And the former
is the basis of the later and the later deepen the former.
Then in Chapter3, there are two sections to study the
"Compassion". One is the Buddha''s compassion. The other is the
disciple''s compassion. And the two are related to the three
studies----discipline, meditation, wisdom. In the thesis he also
tells us that "compassion" is the reflection of a perfect
personality. Moreover in the first section you can find the
model of compassion ----Buddha, and in the second section you
can find how to practice compassion. Finally, the author
conclude and indicate the features of compassion in Agamas.
Besides, he try to answer the questions related to compassion
and tells us the research that should be done in the future.
