The main object of this thesis is to develop a Ka-band ground transmitting/receiving antenna for the ROCSAT-1 Ka-Band personal communication Experiment. To integrate dual-band, dual- polarization ( 30 GHz for transmissio and 20 GHz for LHCP reception ) into one microstrip antenna array structure is the major task through this research, especially for high-gain array application. For dual band operation, we use the two orthogonal resonant modes of microstrip antenna with one side dimension of patch reduced by locating three slots along the edge to elongate the current flow length. Two layer feeding networks are then implemented to prevent the coupling between two operation frequency bands. In addition, the sequential rotation method is applied for the element antenna arrangement to generate circular polarization radiation. For the consideration of mechanical accuracy and substrate thickness, the antenna array are designed and implemented at the half frequency by frequency scaling method. The simulation and antenna radiation pattern measurement of this work use HP Momentum commercial available tool and NSI Lite 233L near field measurement facility.
