This research focuses on developing an integrated information management system for construction site data management. Site data collection and management is a daily and major construction management task that can either enhance or adversely affect construction efficiency. An effective site data management with the aid of computer technology can not & 櫏 reduce the repetitive works for data input, but also improve the construction productivity. In the development of the system, two major aspects of information management are concerned, namely management of construction site data and data integration of cost estimates with progress payment measuring. For construction information management, the site data framework and procedures for passing the data are identified using data flow diagram and structural database analysis. Eleven system functional modules including budget preparation, contract administration, design drawings management, bidding and award, personnel management, construction records, construction daily reports, schedule controls, cost controls, measuring progress payment, and change orders are developed for site management. Integrating estimating data with progress payment measuring is applied in this study to reduce the repetitive works for quantity calculation. Traditionally, the detailed estimates is conducted based on the detail design to calculate a careful tabulation of all the quantities of the project. This research creates a new way of thinking by integrating the graphical features of detail design with the related estimating quantities. The integrated information is used in construction phase for measuring the progress payments. Using GIS, the quantities of completed works can be input to the daily reports by selecting the related graphic features and then, the monthly or semimonthly payment quantities are obtained by summarizing the daily reports. Moreover, the construction progress can be represented in graphics with different colors.
