The objective of this study is to investigate the time-dependent behavior of wall deflection induced by deep exvavations.Based on field observations,it is found that amount of wall deflection is normally increased with elspsed time for each stage of excavation. Both consolidation and creep may contribute such behavior. In this study Modified Cam-clay elasto-plastic model combined with Biot consolidation theory is used for cohesive soil, and Mohr-Coulomb model is used for cohesionless soil. Analysis results exhibit that computed porewater pressure and wall deflections are close to field observations in engineering pratice, compared with field observations.Consolidation may contribute little on the time-dependent behavior of wall deflection.
