刺桐(Erythrina variegata Linn. var. orientalis(L.)Merr.)又名雞公樹 、山芙蓉或海桐,為豆科(Leguminosae),刺桐屬(Erythrina)之植物,具有祛風濕、通經絡、消腫止痛之效,亦可治霍亂、痺瘋、牙痛、痢疾等。
由刺桐莖皮經丙酮萃取後,莖皮續以甲醇萃取,本研究由甲醇萃取液中分離得到七種化合物,分別為:phytosterols--campesterol(Ia), stigmasterol(Ib), β-sitosterol(Ic)、3-epi-lupeol(Ⅱ)、lup-20(29)-en-3-one(Ⅲ)、lupeol (Ⅳ) &β-amyrin (Ⅳb)、oleanolic acid(Ⅴ)、olean-l2-en-3β, 28-diol (Ⅵ)、long chain ester of ferulic acid(Ⅶa, Ⅶb),及由丙酮萃取液中得到二個化合物,分別為:5,4'-dihydioxy-8-(3"'-methyl-2"'-butenyl)【2", 2"-dimethylpyrano (5", 6": 6, 7)】isolavone(Ⅷ)、5, 4'-dihydroxy-6-(2"'-hydroxy-3"'-methyl-3'"-butenyl)[2", 2"-dimethylpyrano(6", 5": 7, 8)]ispflavone(Ⅸ),並經由光譜分析確定其結構。
其中lup-20(29)-en-3-one(Ⅲ)、lupeol(Ⅳa) & β-amyrin (Ⅳb)及5, 4'-dihydroxy-6-(2"'-hydroxy-3"'-methy-3"-butenyl) [P2", 2"-dimethylpyrano(6", 5" : 7, 8)]isoflavone(Ⅸ),為刺桐所含成分文獻上首度報導 。


Erythrina variegata Linn. var. orientalis (L.) Merr. (Leguminosae) is a large deciduous tree distributed along streams near the seashore of Taiwan. It is also often planted in garden and roadside, and has a foudoric reputation for medicinal properties such as anti-rheumatism, circulation promoting and insecticidal activities.
From the methanolic extracts of the stem bark of Erythrina variegata Linn. var. orientalis (L.) Merr., seven components were obtained. These components are including phytosterols (campesterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol), 3-epi-lupeol, lup-20(29)-en-3-one, lupeol, β-amynn, oleanolic acid, olean-12-en-3β, 28-diol and long chain ester offerulic acid.
Further chromatographed the acetone soluble fraction of this plant, two isoflavonoids were obtained. These compounds are 5, 4'-dihydroxy-8-(3"'-methyl-2"'-butenyl)-[2", 2"-dimethyl-pyrano(5", 6" : 6, 7) ]isoflavone and 5, 4'-dihydroxy-6-(2"'-hydroxy-3"'-methyl-3'"-butenyl)- [2", 2"-dimethylpyrano (6", 5" : 7, 8)]isoflavone.
These structures were identified by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
Among the above components, lup-20(29)-en-3-one, lupeol, p-amyrin and 5, 4'-daiydroxy-6-(2'"-hydroxy-3'"-methyl-3"'-butenyl)-[2", 2"-dimethylpyrano(6", 5" : 7, 8) ]isoflavone were first isolated from this plant.
