案例式推理(Case-Based Reasoning)是人類推理思考過程中常用的解題
策略, 有時又稱為「類比式的推論」,也就是利用先前處理類似情況的
經驗來協助解決所面臨的新問題。 傳統的專家系統多根據其相關知識領
域整理歸納出經驗法則, 而以法則式推理進行系統之運作。然對於結構
分析設計方面的問題, 經驗豐富的工程師常運用其專業知識與從業經驗
,根據過去遭遇的問題及其解決的過程, 以類比式思考的方式進行結構
分析設計的工作,以期達到事倍工半的效果, 並避免錯誤的產生,本研
究即探討如何將案例式推理之理念應用於結構分析與設計的專家系統中,
以增進專家系 統在結構工程應用上之效能。本研究發展一個案例式輔助
的建築結構耐震設計專家系統, 將領域知識、專家的經驗知識以及設計
方法置於系統知識庫中, 並利用案例式推理之觀念與技巧輔助設計者更
有效率地完成設計,增進設計的品質。整個系統架構由兩個主要部份所組
成, 一為知識庫設計系統,另一部份為案例式輔助系統。知識庫設計系
統擁有案例獨立式之設計知識, 處理複雜的分析運算功能,產生新的設
計案例及設計評估值; 而案例式輔助系統則具有案例搜尋、瀏覽、取回
、修改、儲存之功能,同時設計了案例記憶庫之管理介面,提供使用者管
理案例庫之案例。 期望藉由案例式輔助系統所提供的功能, 幫助工程師
回憶過去之相似經驗,而在結構初步設計階段能夠選擇較佳的結構配置,
或直接使用過去之設計方案,使得設計流程能更有效率地完成,進而提昇
設計品質。
Case-based reasoning is an important problem-solving strategy
that humans use frequently. Sometimes called reasoning
by analogy, case-based reasoning uses earlier experience of
similar situations to help solving new problems. Traditional
expert systems act mostly by logical reasoning according to
experiential rules induced from domain knowledge. In structural
design of buildings, experienced engineers use not only
professional knowledge but also analogical cogitation to
accomplish design. This kind of analogical design strategy,
which is based-on past design cases and their problem-
solving processes, can improve the efficiency of design and
avoid the occurrence of errors. The aim of this research
is to examine how ideas and techniques from case-based reasoning
can be used to aid engineers in the design of building
structures.

A case-based preliminary structural design aid was developed for
earthquake resistance design of buildings. The
knowledge base includes basic structural design theorem and
experiential knowledge of domain experts. The case-based design
aid can guide engineers to accomplish designs efficiently, and
enhance the quality of designs.The system consists of a
knowledge-based design system and a case-based system. The
knowledge-based system incorporates case-independent knowledge
to provide design analysis and evaluation functions. The
case-based system provides additional functionality for
design searching, browsing, retrieving, adaptation and saving.
Furthermore, the case base can be managed through a design
memory manager. By using the case-based design aid,
designers can recall and evaluate past designs in thecase base
to select a better design configuration or to use a retrieved
design result directly at the early stage of a design.
Therefore, preliminary structural design of buildings can be
accomplished efficiently and more design alternatives can be
investigated. The quality of designs shall be improved
eventually. be improved eventually.
