The investigation of sediment transport is important to hydraulic engineering. However, field measurements are difficult to measure suitable data and usually very costly. Thus, the flume tests become one of the main method for deriving sediment transport models. This study is to derive sediment transport models from a series of flume tests using fine sand (D5o=0.265mm) with different slopes and flow discharges. The results show that sediment discharge can be determined by the slope and flow rate, which is, qs=4.73×S1.92(q-qc) (cms/m)(D5o=0.265mm), where critical discharge qc, this study used, was derived by Schoklitsch(1950). In this research, a relationship between qs and particle Reynolds number Re is achieved as gs=3.16×10-9 Re4.572(q-qc) (cms/m)
The experimental results are compared with Schoklitsch''s (1934,1950), Bagnold''s (1966), Ho''s (1983) and Huang''s (1992). The sediment discharges in this model are greater than the others except Schoklitsch''s (1934). And the results of this tests is similar to the Bagnold''s (1956). According to this study, the slope factor has more influence on the sediment discharge.
As the sediments begin to overflow from the dam, a stable slope in the upstream of the dam will be reached, and the changes of the bed form, seen in the tests, are slowing down as the tests continue. The analysis of the effects on the different dam heights to the sediment discharge has also been discussed
