This study was attempted to investigate how the knowledge, attitude and behavior toward solid waste problems in junior high students. The samples in this study were randomly selected by purposive sampling method from three Nan-twen junior high schools (cluster 1) the top three of the best schools for environment education (cluster 2) in Taichung City. The study was made by a questionnaire developed by the researcher himself. After pilot test (in 124 students ) , the validity and reliability were verified. Then, the formal test was taken in 704 students, and statistical analysis was proceeded with “SPSS for windows 6.0”. This study was adopted “purposive sampling.”The "target population" was cluster 1 and cluster 2. (cluster 1 : all the junior high students in Nan-twen , Taichung City; cluster 2: the students of three of the best junior high schools in practicing environmental education in Jaichung City) Through " stratified random sampling," the researcher drew one class out from each grade of each school, as the samples of this study. The chief instrument of the study was questionnaire developed by the researcher himself. After taking pilot tests, formal tests were taken. In formal tests, 704 valid samples were collected and 12 students were interviewed. By means of adopting " SPSS For Windows 6.0," α reliability coefficient and the other relevant data were statistically analyzed. And the significant conclusions acquired from this study were listed as the following statements. (1).The correlation between the knowledge and the attitude toward solid waste problems in junior high students was highly positive. (2).The correlation between the attitude and the behavior toward solid waste problems in junior high students was also highly positive. Students who showed positive attitude usually took responsible behavior. (3).The correlation between the knowledge and the behavior toward solid waste problems in junior high students was positive, too. Students that possessed more knowledge about solid waste knew bow to handle or treat solid waste and they took responsible behavior more often. (4).There was very little significance between these two clusters'' knowledge, attitude and behavior toward solide waste problems.
