中國大陸從1995年開始進行「九五」計畫，在區域經濟的發展上，為促進區域經濟的協調發展，突破原有依行政區域劃分的界限，將中國大陸規劃分為長江三角洲、環渤海地區、東南沿海地區、西南和華南部份省區、東北地區、中部五省地區和西地區七個跨省市的經濟區域。 本論文針對長江三角洲的區域發展作一探討分析。由文獻資料來探討此區域內上海、江蘇省及浙江省的發展狀況。透過「成長極」發揮的效應與點軸開發模式的效果，使本區域內的區域差距縮小。並藉由社會面及經濟面的統計數據比較來看出長江三角洲在中國大陸所佔之比重，充分顯示出此區域的發展對中國大陸整體經濟的發展具有深遠的影響力。

The Mainland China started the "Ninth-Five" plan from 1995. To advance the concerting development , Mainland China is divided into seven economic regions . There are the Yangtze river delta , surrounding the Pohai sea , the southeast along the coast , the southwest and the southern china , the northeast , the center five provinces, and the northwest . The research of the thesis aimed directly at the regional development of the Yangtze river delta . Based on available data , the present study focused on the development of Shanghai and the Yangtze river delta . The statistical results shows the contrast of the regional differences . It further indicater that the development of the Yangtze river delta have powerful influence on Mainland China .
