In this paper, the direct output feedback control law is developed in directe-time domain based on the principle of instantaneous control. The direct output feedback control law is derived and the control effectiveness is illustrated numerically by a three-story model at the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering. The feasibility of the proposed control algorithm is verified numerically through eigen value analysis fresquency-domain analysis and time-domain analysis. The optimal placement and choice of sensors is also discussed in this paper.
