In search long-range electronic communication between metal centers through organic matrix, a series of complexes containing Pentaammineruthenium(II) and ferrocene moties were synthesized. The bridging group chosen to link Cp and lead in ruthenium center is Spy. We hope adding pyridine can make the communication between Fc and Ru(NH3)5 moties better. The heterobinuclear complexes[FcSPyRu(NH3)5](PF6)2 were synthesized and studied in this work. This compound shows two sets of reversible waves in its cyclic voltammogram, the smaller set is from Ru2+-Ru3+ and the other is from Fc-Fc+. We found donor number doesn't affect the potential of Fc-Fc+ but does affect the potential of Ru2+-Ru3+ a lot. In Near-IR specta, DN affects the energy of intervalence band. So we use MeNO2(the DN is smaller solvent) to find the IT band.
