光碟機的讀取時間是性能的一項重要指標。近年來,光碟機的倍速在不斷提昇之餘,讀取時間卻沒有太多的改善。在不改變光碟機的整體架構之下,要改善讀取時間就唯有從尋軌控制的設計來著手,因此有效地縮短平均讀取時間並達到精確定位的目的是本文研究的重點。首先,我們探討如何將正確的軌數算出,再將跳軌中由於主軸馬達與讀取頭同時動作所造成的軌數誤數以預先查表的方式加以補償,使得軌數的計算能更為精確。接著針對尋軌馬達速度曲線的參數利用推導及實驗分析作一最佳的近似,使得任何可能的跳軌動作都能有更強健及更佳的尋軌表現,經由實驗的結果可看出讀取時間有明顯的改善。
The access time is an important figure of merit of an optical disc system. In recent years, the data transfer rate of optical drives such as CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs has improved significantly. In contrast, the access time remains in the order of 100 msec. The thesis investigates two approaches to reduce the average access time. A track count scheme is devised that accounts for the simultaneous motion of the disc and the sledge actuator. As a result, a look-ahead table can be designed to come up with a more accurate track count. In addition, an optimization approach is applied to adjust the parameters associated with a typical speed profile. This then leads to a more robust and higher performance seek operation with respect to all possible seek action. The design is experimentally verified using a 6X DVD-ROM drive.
