240度超扭轉向列(STN)型液晶顯示器模式是目前STN LCD最常使用的顯示模式，本文主要在利用程式模擬的方法尋找最佳的液晶參數，包括液晶的彈性常數以及液晶和補償膜的⊿nd搭配，所最佳化的顯示器模式為反射式ECB Mode(電控雙折射模式)STN LCD以及反射式和穿透式的Black/White Mode(黑白模式)STN LCD。對於ECB Mode STN LCD我們要求具有高解析度和多色彩的品質，而Black/White Mode STN LCD則要求白底和高對比度。
在過去，STN LCD的最佳化大多著重於液晶和補償膜的⊿nd搭配，對於液晶彈性常數的影響的研究則付諸闕如，而液晶的彈性常數並非沒有影響，其對ECB Mode STN LCD影響尤巨，我們發現選擇正確的彈性常數可以使ECB Mode STN LCD即使在高解析度時仍能擁有豐富的色彩。且在生產高解析度的顯示器時便須選擇穿透率對電壓有高陡度的STN液晶，此陡度的高低亦和液晶的彈性常數有關。
液晶彈性常數和陡度的關係在過去即有學者研究過，本文亦對此問題做模擬探討，我們發現在過去的文獻中認為陡度和k22/k11與k33/k11有關，一般以為k33/k11增加則陡度增加，而k22/k11增加陡度減少，但根據模擬的結果，STN隨k11和k22乘積增加而陡度減少，但隨k33的值增加而陡度增加，此結論和以前的文獻結果並不相同。

The parameters of the 240°STN LCD was optimized by computer simulation,including the elastic constants and the ⊿nd of the liquid crystal and the compensator.The optimal parameters of the reflective ECB mode STN LCD,the reflective Black/White mode STN LCD and the transimissive Black/White mode STN LCD were found.
In the past,most of the researches of the STN LCD did the parameter optimization concertrated on the ⊿nd value of the liquid crystal and the compensation films,but there is little information available on the effect of the elastic constants.
We found that the elastic constants will affect the number of color of the ECB mode STN LCD,and the steepnessof their transmission-voltage curves are controlled by the values of k11*k22 and k33 instead of the ratio of k22/k11 and k33/k11.The results are different from the viewpoint of the past reports.
