This study is designed to explore the ethnographic phenomenon expressed in the text of the Wan-Shan tribe''''''''s folklore. The interpretation analysis on the text serves to review the meaning of human life and culture. Besides an exploration is undertaken on the implication of applying such a review result to the curricula. The informants of this study include one major informant, along with several ones who are added anytime in the tribe and one interpreter who is invited in view of the accuracy of both translation and understanding. This study uses the method of participant observation and in-depth interview to collect the information and adopts the tool of the Grounded-Theory to process the information into the text. Based on the research into the Interpretative-Theory in the literature, the interpretation of the information will be adopted depending on the information nature and objective. This study emphasizes that the interpretation is good for not only realizing the internal status and motivation of the study objects, but further understanding the meaning of human existence via the knowledge of the text. The conceptual structure is therefore formed for the purpose of going on with a two-year field study. The study findings are as follows: (1) It is found, after an overview of the collected field folklore as well as its initial analysis, that Wan-Shan is a tribe, which totally differs but changes little in the past and at present That is to say, its cultural structure is superior to the social one. (a)ln the cultural ecology, the natural environment brings a lot of issues up for existent development to the people of Wan-Shan. They rely on the existing worldwide perspective to adapt themselves to the nature, apply it and create their own culture, (b)ln coping with the change of the cultural society, they keep on creating the culture of their own by use of the new equipment, to meet with the religious change, human being seems to combine the view of traditional belief and customs together into a new religion. As far as the language is concerned, there is not only a problem of change, but also one of fading away. As the change goes, only the death of language and transfer of culture come. (c)ln terms of the thinking culture, the Wan-Shan people exhibit a kind of values, which links with the nature. Their attitude towards life and things is invested with intensive spiritual atmosphere, (d)ln culture of technology is the most far-reaching part under the influence of the dominant culture. However to a certain degree it would rather consider the needs of its own culture than make an across-the-board acceptance. In consequence, a culture with its own style is built up. (e)The culture of life rituals for the Win-Shan people is almost fully expressed on ihe basis of the symbolic signs. Their use of the cultural strategies is quite terrific. (2) The collected stories of dictation are analysis in three different levels: one is the superficial meaning classification, i.e. analysis of the contents. The other exploration on the level of internal projection meaning, and another on the level of the symbolic interpretation, that is, study on the pursuit of the universal meaning of the human mind. As a result, we find the interpretation of the symbolic level upgrades the status of the story, which is the most favorable way to interpret the aborigine''''''''s text.
