摘要
近幾年來,通訊的蓬勃發展,象徵著通訊時代的來臨,在這股通訊潮流當中,無線通訊正是當中最快速竄紅的部分,因為它能實現人類一直在追求的夢想--個人通訊--不論何時、何地,只要想通訊,就能通訊。為了實現這個夢想,工業界和學術界也不斷提出新的改良方式和構想。目前相當熱門的IMT-2000即是一例。IMT-2000致力於整合目前路地上所有的無線通訊系統,以期能讓使用者一機在手,行遍天下。範圍能遍及處於靜止或移動性小而要求高傳輸速率的無線網路到能提供大眾在高速移動環境下使用的蜂巢式行動電話。然而這樣的構想,還是存在一些可以進一步改良的地方,那就是在提供大眾運輸工具的通訊娛樂服務方面,因為當我們乘坐在高速鐵路、飛機、和輪船上時,並沒有辦法使用隨身的手機。前者因速度過高,超出陸地行動通訊系統所能負擔的範圍,後兩者則根本無法使用陸地行動通訊系統。而這正是本文所探討的重點。
在本論文中,主要將針對高速鐵路和飛機所提供的通訊和娛樂服務作系統架構概念的探討。高速鐵路一般是指時速大於200km/hr的速度,而未來高速鐵路的速度更有可能達到五、六百公里以上。在這樣高速的環境下,如GSM這種細胞式行動電話並沒有辦法支援到時速兩百公里以上 ,因此乘客們將不再能於車上藉GSM手機與外界通訊。因此我們規劃了另一種階層式的架構( hierarchical structure )來提供乘客通訊服務,在這種架構下,是相當於以一個會移動的網路去擷取陸地骨幹網路(mobile network access land backbone)。同樣的困難,也發生在飛機上,但飛機是無法使用上述所規劃的陸地行動通訊系統。因此我們認為透過衛星將是最好的選擇方式,一些新的衛星傳輸技術,和新的系統架構整合概念也將在此提出。
