雕模放電加工(Die Sinking Electrical Discharge Maching, EDM)的放電加工條件與被加工物形狀多變且複雜,故選取放電參數時需要仰賴技術與經驗,而製造廠商所提供的加工參數表又侷限於簡單形狀,在加工過程中經常會採用到柱、錐、階梯等複雜形狀之放電加工,操作者難以得知電極的真實投影截面積變化,進而可以根據投影面大小來得到參數設定調整之正確參考方向。
針對此問題,本論文利用圓形、正方形與薄片等三種基本電極形狀於放電過程中記錄有效放電與異常放電波列之放電次數,與材料去除之重量,利用迴歸分析方法並建立其放電過程中不同的放電狀態下材料去除重量之估測模式,提供線上精確且有效估測電極之投影截面積的大小。
實驗結果顯示由於放電狀態的不同,將估測模式分成正常、異常與初始放電三種估測電極投影截面積之模式,最後並以此基本估測模式去預估圓錐狀或球狀形狀電極等投影截面積變化之電極時,皆可以得到±10%以內誤差之估測值。
 
In Die Sinking Electrical Discharge Machining processes, the machining conditions and the shapes of electrodes are various and complex from case to case. Therefore, the adjusting of discharge parameters would either depend on the experiences and skills of the operators, or depend on the machining setting tables provided by the manufacturers. However, the machining setting tables provided by the manufactures are merely based on electrodes of simple geometry. It is difficult to fully express the shapes and real areas of the electrodes to the operators. Ultimately, after having the correct references for adjusting parameters based on the projection areas.
In order to solve the problem, this study was dedicated to establishing an expert system. We first counted the numbers of discharge trains under both normal and abnormal discharge, and recorded the accordant amount of material removed in the EDM machining process with electrodes of three different shapes - cylinder, square and lamina. Then by using regression analysis and establishing estimate models for the material removal weight in different discharge conditions, we provided an on-line expert system, which could accurately and effectively estimate the projection area of electrodes.
  The result of the experiments showed that, Dividing the estimate expresses into three models-normal, abnormal and beginning. At last, with the help the basic estimate models, we could accurately estimate the changing projection area of corn- or sphere-shaped electrodes. we can get accuracy estimate areas.
