傳統的方式無法讓使用者根據影片內容作查詢,如果使用者想要找出所需的影片片段,就必須將整部影片從頭到尾看過一次。對於大量的影片資料,這樣的情形更為不方便且費時費力。為了解決這個問題,我們提出一個實作於物件式 資料庫上的影片內容查詢系統。
我們考慮影片的邏輯結構,以XML來分段描述影片的內容,將系統實作於物件式資料庫(Jasmine [CA])上,儲存影片的邏輯結構與內容描述。系統中包含影片分割程式、影片內容編輯程式、描述方法及查詢介面,影片記錄者透過影片內容編輯程式紀錄影片內容,並將分割結果的描述內容存放於物件式多媒體資料庫中,讓查詢者可以透過查詢介面,直接針對影片的內容作查詢。對於影片的查詢不單只是表面上目錄式的瀏覽,加上影片內容的描述,更可以滿足使用者的需求。由於時間的因素,我們的實作上並非針對所有種類的影片,而就一特定類型影片來實作,如服裝秀影片。

Traditional methods can not support the user to select video segments that he or she wants according to the video content. If the user wants to select video segments with certain conditions, he or she must go through the whole video in order to understand what the video is about. It is inconvenient, in particular, for large amount and frequently retrieval of video. To solve the above problems, we attempt to develop a content-based video query system.
We consider the video logical structure and use XML to describe the content of video segments and the system implemented on an OODB (Jasmine [CA]), which is used to store the description of video structure and content. It needs to contain video segmentation programs, video content annotating programs, description methods, and query interface. The description of results edited by video content annotator will be save into the object database for the sake of supplying users to access the video content directly with the query interface. The queries of video do not only mean that giving a catalogue to users for browsing but adding the description of video content may satisfy what the users need. Due to time limit, we do not aim at a covering wide range of video. Instead, we refine ourselves in some pacific domain such as fashion video, as the target of our research.
