隨選視訊系統在下個世紀將會使用允入控制測試,以確保使用者接收是可預料的而且保證可以被服務。影片儘可能的能分享給很多人也令人渴望的,把影片存放在階層式儲存系統可以實現這種適當的交易。在這篇論文中,我們提出一種改善允入控制的方法進而增加影片的使用率及減少被要求觀看影片的起始時間。除此之外,我們也提出一種週期的檢查更換政策。根據這種週期的檢查更換政策,我們可以減少系統中的阻塞率。最後,我們使用SES/workbench工具模擬我們隨選視訊系統。經由模擬的結果,我們可以知道我們提出的階層式隨選視訊系統比其他選視訊系統較好。

The next generation of the Video-on-demand system will use admission control tests to ensure that users receive predictable and guaranteed service. It is desirable that
the videos are shared by as many people as possible and that the videos are stored in a hierarchical storage system to achieve the appropriate tradeoff. In this thesis we
propose an improving admission control to increase the utilization of the videos and reduce the start-up time of the requested video. Moreover, we provide a periodical-
checking-replacement policy. According to this periodical-checking-replacement policy, we can reduce the blocking rate for a given system configuration. Finally, we use the SES/workbench tool to simulate our VoD hierarchical system. We show the simulation module and the result of the performance simulation. We know that we propose a better hierarchical VoD system than others through the simulation result.
