Business process reengineering (BPR) is a pervasive but challenging tool for transforming organizations, it can obtain dramatic and sustaining improvements in cost, lead time, and human resource. Information technology (IT) plays an important facilitating role, but it often misused. The role of IT in a process should be considered in the early stages of its redesign, but not to automate the existing process. Thus, if the role of IT could be considered in the planning stage in BPR project by senior management, the reengineered process would exert itself to higher performance easily. The purpose of this study is to apply the TRA to assess senior management’s original intention toward the role of IT in BPR, and take a direct remedial action to promote senior management’s original intention. The study consisted of 98 subjects of senior management, and the response rate was 7.1%. Several major finding were as follows:(1) The attitudes, subjective norms can effectively predict the subjects'' intention. And the attitudes have more effectiveness. (2) The attitudes positively relate to ∑ bbi ﹡ei, and the subjective norms positively related to ∑ nbj ﹡mcj. (3) After remedial action, both the attitudes and ∑ bbi ﹡ei have been promoted, but only ∑ bbi ﹡ei has significant. (4) The results supported the hypothesis of the TRA.
