資訊搜尋與訂閱是個相當受到歡迎的網路服務。當資訊變的越來越大量的時候,個人化資訊服務變成了一種趨勢,藉由提供適合使用著需求與興趣的服務來增加使用者的滿意程度。然而,大多數的個人化資訊服務是由Server端所提供的服務為主。換言之,他們提供個人化資訊服務是讓使用者獲得他們在網站上所提供的資訊。
在本篇論文中,我們提出了另一種個人化資訊服務的方式,那就是將個人化資訊服務嵌進Proxy Server中。在我們的個人化資訊服務中,使用者可以在Proxy Server上訂閱他們所感興趣的資訊,對Proxy中的Cache做搜尋的動作,或是搜尋使用者過去的瀏覽記錄。我們也設計一種技術藉著透過分析他(或她)的access log來動態地調整使用者的喜好設定,如此搜尋服務將可以大大地符合使用者們的喜好或是自動地訂閱特定的網路資料。

Information subscription and search are popular services on the web. As the information amount gets larger and larger, personalized information service becomes a trend to maximize the degree of satisfaction of the users by tailoring the users' need and interest. However, most of the personalized information service is based on the service provided by the server. I.e., they are providing personalized information service for the user to consume information provided in their service sites.
In this thesis, we propose a way of providing personalized information service by embedding personalized information service in the proxy server. In our personalized information service, the user can subscribe interested content passing through the proxy servers, performing search function in the proxy cache, or search in the user's browsing history. We also design techniques to dynamically obtain the user's preference through the analysis of his/her access log such that the search will be tuned to maximize the matching of the user's preference, or automatically subscribe certain content in the web.
