文法影響外語教學法在歷史上的演變，也影響了外語師生對文法的定義，導致文法往往成了學習外語的一個障礙多過於一種幫助。 以文法在外語教學中的地位為研究對象，針對文法過去扮演的一個中心的角色，企圖分析文法在當今的外語教學中擁有一個別於過去，一個新地位的可能性。 前言: 說明研究動機、目的、範圍及方法。 第一章: 從外語教學及語言學的角度介紹文法的定義、透過外語教學的歷史背景看文法在各主要教學法中的重要性。 第二章: 說明理論詮釋文法知識的主要方式、我們吸收文法知識的過程，由此進入探討正式的教學對文法學習的影響力與否。 第三章: 為本論文的重點，藉由課程目標、大綱及方法、分析文法在這些層面所應呈現的新的地位及扮演的新角色。 結語: 結論及省思。
