雙生同胞的研究一般廣泛被用於數量性狀資料的分析，透過比較同卵和異卵同胞對間相似程度的差異可以推估是否有遺傳因子存在的可能性。本文首先介紹當資料型態為連續型時如何以組內相關係數 (intraclass corr-elation coefficient)來估計相關，接著探討以疾病發生率 (incidence rate)直接估計遺傳率 (heritibility)的方法和數種在以往文獻中所提到之三分類性狀相關的描述及檢定方法。最後我們另外提出四個新的無母數相關描述指標，直接由3*3次數分配表來估計同胞一和同胞二間的相關，並以模擬分析結果討論各指標的意義及可行性。

Twin study is a simple and useful method in analysis of quantitative traits. The genetic effect is detected through comparison between monozygotic and dizygotic twins. In this thesis we first review a method for estimation of intraclass correlation and heritability for continuous traits. Then we review some proposed methods for estimation of twin correlation for polytomous traits. Finally we propose several new nonparametric methods for estimation of twin correlation for polytomous trait. Simulation studies are performed for examing statistical performance of these method.
