問題導向小班教學的上課方式除了教學課程改變外,提供系統化的模組教材輔助教學也是授課者的一項重要責任,陽明大學解剖所醫學圖像資訊組在2000年提出網路虛擬解剖教室 (Network Virtual Anatomy Classroom, NeVAC) 的概念,希望藉此輔助教師教材製作,提供學生一個醫學資料收集中心,其中數位化醫學影像教材是未來醫學教育的必然發展趨勢,解剖所過去建立了許多重要的解剖教材,包括部分具有詳細解剖學名詞標示的影像,但是因為缺乏系統性整理而未能達到最佳利用效率。本論文期望以資訊方法的導入,協助影像資料之管理,建立NeVAC的基礎資料來源。
首要工作為矯正解剖所過去製作的橫斷面圖譜內容,其次逐一檢視下載自美國國家醫學圖書館 (NLM) 的Visible Human Dataset,將所有影像內容轉換為JPEG格式。同時進行資料庫規劃,以及使用者介面設計,將所有經過壓縮的影像資料儲存於SQL資料庫中,讓使用者能夠透過網際網路自由瀏覽現有影像資料。最後訂定一小型解剖字典,透過影像內容與字典的結合,提供使用者查詢影像內容的功能。
此影像資料庫建立了NeVAC儲存多媒體資料之雛形,使後續的開發者能快速建立其他資料的存取型態。未來擴充使用者介面與資料庫架構,並搭配目前開發中的Java線上影像編輯程式,則此一影像資料庫即可成為NeVAC系統中的資料來源核心,服務所有課程使用者。 (本資料庫的網址為http://vhp.ym.edu.tw/。)

In order to accommodate the upcoming medical curriculum reform at the National Yang-Ming University, the Medical Image and Information Group at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology (IACB) proposed a teaching assistant system called “Network Virtual Anatomy Classroom (NeVAC)” to provide essential human morphology resource for problem-based learning. The primary goal of NeVAC is to establish a Web-based, multi-user working environment for the collecting and editing of anatomy curricular data. In light of the apparent usefulness of digitized images in future anatomy education, IACB has created numerous well well-labeled anatomical images in the past few years. However, these image resources have not been adequately utilized due to the lack effective management. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to develop a management protocol for the maintenance of the anatomical image information. This management system, in combination with the image resources, will thereupon constitute the basis of NeVAC.
We set out to correct annotations of anatomical images that were created in IACB previously. Further, we verified the Visible Human Dataset that had been downloaded from the National Library of Medicine (NLM), USA. Subsequently, we converted all of these images into JPEG format. To enable end user access to these images, we designed a database schema and a front-end user interface. All of the image data were stored in a SQL server and their contents were linked to a dictionary edited ourselves. Thus, this system allows end users to browse or search the database through the Internet.
This image database represents a prototype for storage and access of multimedia data in NeVAC. Furthermore, this image database will play an essential role in NeVAC operation through continuous expansion of the database structure and integration with on-line Java image process applications that are currently under development in this laboratory.
