利用兩種不同的Nematic低分子液晶混合誘導出Smactic相,然後再分別混合一種具有光學旋光性chiral 化合物(CB15與C15),誘導出Cholesteric相。其中HPPB/E7/CB15複合系液晶在clolesteric相下,展現出特殊的光電現象,在未加入偏光板的情況下,會發現在室溫藉由電場的施加而出現絢麗的色彩-具有可見光的選擇性吸收波長。再將此複合系液晶與高分子(Pdi-iPF)混合後比較之。而HPPB/E7/C15複合系液晶則藉由熱轉移來達成光散亂與光透明的現象,使液晶面板會隨著溫度的不同而呈現明暗的變化。這實驗是對三種低分子液晶複合系的電熱光學特性研究,並討論C15的含量對複合系液晶相與電熱光學特性的影響。期望應用於電熱控制的光閘或窗廉。

Under the cholesteric phase, the composite of HPPB/E7/CB
15 has a special elect optical effect. Under the room temperature, we find some beautiful colors by electric field without polarizer. It tells us that the kind of liquid crystal phase has the selected absorptive and visible light wavelength behavior. Then we mixed it with Pdi-iPF and compare with the unmixed one. The composite of HPPB/E7/C15 can be achieved the light scattering and light opaque by thermal transmission, and it makes the different contrast of the liquid crystal panel with different temperature.
