自1999年起,由Napster所引發的對等式網路運算架構(Peer to Peer Computing Architecture)風暴襲捲整個資訊界,許多的對等式網路(Peer to Peer; P2P)檔案分享軟體及研究專案如雨後春筍冒出,使得各種數位資料的分享及傳播變得更加容易。然而綜觀現有的P2P應用軟體,僅提供簡單的檔案名稱搜尋方式,必然無法滿足P2P使用者找尋多媒體檔案的需求。
因此,本文針對P2P架構上對於影像資料的搜尋需求,提出一個適用於P2P架構的可調適性的影像資料模型(adaptive image data model)為建立影像描述的核心,並結合以內容為基礎之影像檢索方法(Content-Based Image Retrieval; CBIR)的概念與技術,來設計一套應用於P2P的影像註解及擷取方法和系統架構。希望我們所提出的想法及架構,能夠改善目前P2P應用軟體基於關鍵字的搜尋方式之不足,有效地提昇P2P使用者搜尋影像時的命中率。
Since 1999, the P2P (Peer to Peer) Computing Architecture became one of the buzzwords that arose from Napster of the whole IT industry. Many P2P file sharing software and research projects have mushroomed and made the sharing and distribution of various digital data easier. However, only the simple search mechanism based on file name supplied by existing P2P applications is never enough while P2P users search for the multimedia data they want.
We aim at the image data search on P2P architecture, and propose an adaptive image data model that is the core of the establishment of image descriptions. We also integrate the concept and techniques of CBIR (Content-Based Image Retrieval) to design the mechanism and system architecture for image annotation and retrieval on P2P model.
We expect to improve the shortcoming of existing keyword-based search by the idea and architecture proposed here, and improve the hit rate of P2P image search.
