β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate 是支鏈胺基酸之一白胺酸的中間代謝產物。本實驗係探討補充Β-hydroxy-Β-methylbutyrate 四週並配合重量訓練對於身體組成、血液生化值及最大肌力之影響。針對14名非運動員之男性大學生,分為兩組:HMB組(3克Ca-HMB/天),安慰劑組(3克麥芽糊精/天)。研究結果顯示:實驗前後兩組在身體組成方面包括:脂肪百分比、去脂體重及身體質量指數,並無顯著改變。血液生化值方面:實驗前後HMB組HDL cholesterol濃度明顯增加,明顯高於第0週;total cholesterol、 LDL cholesterol 和triglyceride濃度組內不同時間點並無顯著差異,安慰劑組組內不同時間點也都無顯著差異;但血中creatine kinase 活性,HMB組於第八週降低12﹪,安慰劑組於第8週增加49﹪;且HMB組血中睪固酮/皮質醇 (testosterone /cortisol) 濃度比值在第4、6和8週皆增加,安慰劑組皆減少,但兩組組內未達顯著差異。血液生化值兩組在第0、4和8週組間皆未達顯著差異。在最大肌力方面:在實驗後,兩組各部位最大肌力皆明顯高於實驗前。雖HMB組肌力表現皆優於安慰劑組,但僅在仰臥推舉及最大總肌力兩方面,兩組組間達顯著差異;HMB組在第4至第8週補充後,仰臥推舉及腿部推蹬肌力增加,且達顯著差異。由上述結果推論:補充β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate 並配合重量訓練能降低血中creatine kinase 活性,降低運動傷害的產生;且能增加血中testosterone / cortisol 濃度比值及最大肌力,可促進運動表現。
β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate(HMB) is produced from α-ketoisocaproate(KIC) by the enzyme KIC-dioxygenase and is produced exclusively from leucine. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect ofβ-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate supplementation and heavy-resistance training on body composition, blood biochemistry and total maximal muscle strength. Subjects (n=14) were divided into two groups. One is placebo group, the other is HMB group (3.0g HMB/day). Heavy-resistance training (80% 1RM) performed at a constant stimulance 3 days per week for 8 weeks. The results showed that the weight, %fat mass, fat free mass , body mass index, plasma concentration of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride and creatine kinase did not differ between 2 groups before or after training, but the plasma concentration of HDL cholesterol did differ between HMB group before and after training. However, the total maximal muscle strength, bench press, parallel squat, seated rowing and leg press muscle strength significantly increased after 4 and 8 weeks in two groups. The bench press and leg press muscle strength significantly increased after HMB supplementation in HMB group. The testosterone/cortisol ratio was increased in HMB group compared with the placebo group at 4, 6 and 8 week of the study. These data suggested that 4weeks of 3.0g per day of HMB supplementation combined with heavy-resistance training could significantly decrease plasma concentration of creatine kinase , significantly increase total maximal muscle strength and increase testosterone/cortisol ratio.
