本研究以一班國中一年級的學生，探究其數學焦慮的原因，透過行動研究的方式，針對研究者數學科教學進行研究，並探討研究者的教學對學生數學焦慮之影響。
本研究以質的研究法進行資料的蒐集與分析，在行動研究期間，研究者一方面蒐集學生對教學的反應與研究者自我反省的改進教學資料；另一方面進行資料分析的工作，以幫助研究者修正行動策略。
研究者降低學生數學焦慮的方法是以解題導向教學為主，在每個單元進行之前，教師先呈現引導性的問題讓學生猜測，然後以具啟發性的問答進行解題示範，並作有關定義、概念、方法之講述，再以類似或相關的問題作為學生的練習，並經由小組討論的方式，讓學生互相溝通、討論、改進自己的解題構想及釐清彼此的概念。在師生的互動過程中，營造出自由、和諧、相互尊重的氣氛，讓學生在正相向的學習環境中，建立出良好的學習態度和習慣。藉此提昇學生的解題能力，增加學生解題成功的機會，以降低學生的數學焦慮。
研究結果發現，造成國一學生數學焦慮的原因主要包括：過多失敗的數學學習經驗；對數學錯誤的認識；數學時常考試；數學教材內容太難；對數學教師上課氣氛的感受；對數學教師教學方法無法認同及解題技巧與能力的不足等方面。由數學焦慮量表的資料分析中得知：數學焦慮得分的平均數已由19.725分降為12.875分，顯示學生數學焦慮的情形亦獲得減輕。

The study applied action research is designed to explore the major factors which effect on the seventh grader’ anxiety in learning mathematics.
Qualitative research method was adopted in this study. Data collected included: students’ questionnaire, interviews, and assignment; researcher’s own reflection journals. Data analysis was conducted at the end of each classroom teaching. The results of the analysis would help researcher to revise the next class action.
In the present study, mathematics problem solving is ultilized as a teaching technique to reduce learners’ anxiety in math. Before introducing a new unit, some questions designed will lead the learners to guess or to inspire them to get involved, provide related definition and help them build up the concept. Later, the students divide into several groups and engage in group work. The members in each group provided a task have to discuss or negotiate the individual perspectives in looking for the answer.
The findings of the research show that the main factors which promote the learners’ anxiety are the following: many failure experiences in learning math; incorrect concept; many academic tests; unsuitable teaching material; feeling for learning atmosphere; inadaptabilities to teaching style; poor abilities problem solving. From MARS, the results show the average score of mathematics anxiety among the seventh grade students was from 19.725 to 12.875. Hence, we can believe that the anxiety in learning man has been reduced.
