本研究的主旨在利用個案研究的方式探討國小學生製作超媒體專題計劃過程當中運用高層次思考之歷程，以及學生對於此專題活動之想法，研究對象為四名國小六年級之學生。研究者參與個案學生一次為期八節課的超媒體製作專題計劃活動，並利用參與觀察、錄音、問卷調查、訪談及文件分析的方式進行資料蒐集。所蒐集之資料經過轉錄、編碼之後，進而參照Iowa Department of Education（1989）提出的Integrated Thinking Model之理論來分析個案學生運用高層次思考之歷程與技巧。本研究的主要發現如下：
1.個案小組製作超媒體專題計劃之執行流程為：訂定題目、發展主題之內容架構、工作分配、資料收集及整理、製作超媒體簡報、發表與評鑑等六個階段。
2.超媒體專題計劃製作的教學活動可提供很多機會讓學生進行複雜性(如決策、問題解決及設計)思考與高層次(如批判與創意)思考，但是受於時間的限制以及缺乏足夠的教師引導，學生並沒有完全執行複雜性思考所需相關的步驟，在運用高層次思考之技能上亦沒有達到精緻化的程度。
3.個案小組在從事決策、問題解決及設計的過程裡，所運用之批判思考技能多於創造思考技能。
4.個案小組雖然認為超媒體專題計劃課程較其他課程困難，但仍是覺得超媒體專題計劃課程是相當有趣的，並期望再進行類似的專題活動。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the higher-order thinking processes and the perceptions of elementary students while they were asked to produce a hypermedia presentation for a project-based learning activity. A team of four 6th graders was chosen for the purpose of this case study and investigated for eight class periods using the qualitative research techniques such as participatory observation, audio recording, questionnaire, interviewing and document analysis. The data were first transcribed and coded, then analyzed based on the Integrated Thinking Model developed by the Iowa Department of Education. The findings show that:
(1)During the project, the students were engaged in the processes of determining the subject of their presentation, developing content and presentation structures, assigning tasks, collecting needed information, developing hypermedia presentation, and presenting and evaluating the final product.
(2)This project-based learning activity provided lots of opportunities for engaging students in the complex thinking processes such as decision making, problem solving and designing, but students were not able to execute all crucial steps and achieve a level of sophistication.
(3)While attempting to make decision, solving problems or designing a product, students applied critical thinking skills more frequently than creative thinking skills.
(4)Students revealed that the project-based learning with hypermedia was more difficult than the other school subjects, but they still felt this learning activity was interesting, and were willing to engage in similar activities in the future.
