老年人口的遽增，特別是高齡老人的增加，指陳出老人照顧的重要性。如果老人因身心健康，退休後收入大減，親友來往較少，生活閒散，孤寂淒涼或依賴老人福利救濟生活，不但失去了個人自尊心，也會被不孝子女遺棄與虐待。面對一件件怵目驚心的個案，更深感拖延一天不設法預防保護便可能多一件社會的問題，家庭的悲劇。
本研究運用詮釋現象學方法論，目的在了解受虐老人家庭關係特質之現況，探討老人受虐的成因，暴力對受虐老人的影響以及受虐老人之需求。本研究採立意取樣方式，共訪嘉義縣市、雲林縣八位受虐老人及四位施虐者。
透過文獻探討與訪談分析，本研究發現：（一）就受虐老人家庭關係特質之現況而言，施虐者與受虐者的特質與國內外研究結果有相符之處，家庭關係要改善，非短期能竟功，以及受虐者處遇工作面臨困境。（二）老人受虐之成因，文化與社會因素有二，分別為孝道觀念改變及文化規範的轉變；家庭和互動關係因素有三，各是代間傳遞觀點、家庭系統理論，以及家庭壓力論；個人和人格因素有三，與老人有關因素，與施虐者有關之因素，酗酒及藥物濫用。（三）暴力對受虐老人之影響，心理層面的影響有三，恐懼再受虐，精神焦慮不安；交織著沮喪、憤怒與認命的情緒反應以及內心愧疚、被背叛而有厭世的想法。健康層面的影響有二，分別是身體傷害及精神有症狀。家庭生活的影響有四，各為缺乏關懷、愛與尊重；沒伴和不熱鬧；缺乏照顧及協助，生活不便和沮喪；生活充滿衝突與不安。社會生活的影響有三，分別為孤立無援、依賴施虐者而生存、以及社會地位喪失。（四）受虐老人之需求，健康之需求有三，老人普遍有生理疾病的問題；日常生活活動需要協助；生病、住院及復健之照顧。心理支持的需求有三，分別為接納、愛與尊敬的渴望；關懷與照顧的期待；以及陪伴與情緒之支持。安全需求有二，變得沒安全感、希求保護與免於威脅。經濟需求有二，經濟匱乏及沒錢煩惱多。
最後，根據研究結果提出結論與建議，以作為有關單位，對受虐老人提供具體的協助方法或策略。

A Study on the Intrafamily Elder Abuse
Abstract
The drasmatic increase of the elderly population has ighlighted the importance of the care and intervention for the aged. The neglect and abuse of the elderly have been explicitly related to their poor health, lower incomes after retirement, lese interaction with relatives, idle life patterns, and reliance on social security. Lack of services for abused elders, however might exaggerate the extent to which family tragedies might render.
This study incorporated phenomenology and qualitative research techniques with an attempt to understand the phenomela of the intrafamily elder abuse. These included the reasons for abuse, the impacts of violence on the aged and their demands. To accomplish this goal, a purposeful sampling of 8 abused cases and 4 abusers was conducted in chiayi county, chiayi city, and yunlin county during the period time under study.
Based on the literature and the interview analysis, this research has some findings as follows:
(一)The characteristics of the abused elders showed consistent with previous empirical data, demestically and internationally. To improve the relationship of the elderly with other family members, it required long-term intervention, challenging present-day treatments.
(二)A great number of reasons contributed to the abused elders. Cultural and social factors included changes in filial piety and social norms, The worsen interactions could be well depicted from the pespectives of intergenerational transmission, family cycle theory and pressures. Individual characteristics marked abused elders’ varibles, abusers’ stressors, and substance abuse.
(三)The violence has a substantial impact on abused elders. They appeared psychological, physical, household and social symptoms or difficulties. These included a wide range of fear of being repeatedly abused, depression, sense of quilt, physical deseases, mental illness, lack of love and esteem, dependency of abusers, isslation from relatries and fragile social status.
(四)The demands of the abused elders include extensive care of physical deseases, everyday life and rehablilitation. They are in need of psychological support, such as acceptance, love, esteem, anticipation of receiving consideration, and partnership. Simultaneously they hope to obtain security, protection from threat and economic support.
Hopefally, these findings and suggestions might benefit prevention programs and intervention strategies aimed at buffering at-rish elderly adults.
