論文提要內容：
本研究是藉由質性研究的方法，來探索繼母在為人繼母過程中的感受與其和繼子女的親子關係為何。研究過程中採用半結構式深度訪談，訪問五位繼母來蒐集資料，然後透過主題分析的方式進行文本分析，歸納出五個主題：
主題一：序曲－決定結婚的過程
年輕的繼母較注重先生的條件；單親繼母則優先考量與繼子女的適配性、自己孩子與繼子女的相處情況，最後才是先生的條件。女方的父母均持反對態度，朋友則多抱以祝福。
主題二：前奏曲－為人繼母的感受與壓力
為避免外界異樣的眼光或家人的特別要求，繼母對自己的身份多採隱瞞的態度。繼母的壓力主要來自「邪惡的繼母」的迷思、外界對繼母負面的評論、先生家人的過度關心、管教孩子的問題、身兼多重身份。
主題三：主旋律－繼母與繼子女的親子關係
在身負母親管教職責與維繫親子感情之間，繼母很難抉擇。繼母和繼子女的親子關係是較平淡，彼此間存在的是客氣、尊重，此與繼子女性別、缺乏溝通及繼母本身個性、背景有關。
主題四：插曲－繼子女生母與親屬網絡的影響
父母是離婚且仍有與生母保持聯繫的繼子，繼母較難以與他們建立較親密的親子關係。對先生喪偶再娶的繼母來說，繼子女生母家人的態度會影響到她對繼子女對生母感情維繫的包容程度。
主題五：尾聲－甘苦交織的真心話
繼母的獨特優點：有現成的孩子，免除生產之苦；繼子的存在，減低傳宗接代的壓力；縮短育兒的辛苦過程。繼母的憂慮：年老無人奉養，因應之道為降低期望、自存養老基金。繼母適應繼親家庭生活的好壞會影響到她為人繼母的感受。
針對研究結果，研究者提出以下建議：
為人繼母要能體認繼親家庭特殊的家庭結構、能善用社會資源，尋求協助。在家庭教育方面可對即將為人繼母者做婚前教育、提供有關因應繼親家庭問題的家庭教育方案、規劃繼母成長性的小團體。對學校教育的建議：對繼親家庭生活做正面而真實的宣導、舉辦繼親家庭的親職教育、對繼親家庭的孩子實施小團體輔導。最後，針對社會大眾進宣導，使對繼親家庭及其成員有正確的認識。

Experience of a Stepmother

Abstract
This research paper attempts to discuss the challenges that stepmothers face and their relationships with their stepchildren. The research included a series of semi-structured in-depth personal interviews with five stepmothers. After analyzing the data through thematic analysis, the author discussed the results in five themes as follows: (1) the factors determining their marriage to stepfamilies; (2) the feelings and pressures commonly experienced by stepmothers; (3) the relationship between stepmothers and their stepchildren; (4) the influences of the birth mothers and relatives on the stepchildren; (5) the stepmothers’ own interpretations of their experiences with stepchildren.
Recommendations on the result of the research
It is essential for stepmothers to be aware of their special family structures and take advantage of social resources and other assistance when needed. As far as family education is concerned, the authorities concerned can propose education measures to deal with any problem that might occur. The schools should be encouraged to promote and advocate the positive and genuine aspects of stepfamilies and to hold parenting seminars that might assist stepfamilies with their unique situation. In conclusion, the government should make the public aware of the nature and importance of stepfamilies.
