隨著網際網路的發展與越來越多日新月異的技術與服務,人們的移動力與服務需求大幅提高。提供使用者符合移動需求並且又能支援品質服務將是一件刻不容緩的事情。在有線網路環境中,資源保留協定(resource ReSerVation Protocol(RSVP))提供了品質保證服務。在無線網路環境中,使用者可以自由移動並能夠在不同的基地台之間做換區(handoff);然而,正因為在無線網路中使用者可以自由移動,這將改變原本的路由路徑,所以在有線網路上的資源保留協定並不適合於無線網路環境中。

在本篇論文中,我們為無線網路環境提出了一個新的資源保留協定,在代理架構下,使用者所保留的資源將由一組資源保留代理人來做管理與維護,我們將之區分成建立程序和換區程序,並分別描述之。這能夠解決一些現存的問題。最後,我們使用的網路模擬軟體ns2(Network Simulator-2)來為我們所提出的資源保留協定做效能評估,並且與其它相關研究做比較。模擬結果顯示,在我們套用新的代理架構下,減少了阻塞率與強制中斷率和其它問題的同時,效能並沒有損失。
With the development of Internet and innovating of technologies and services, the mobility service requirements are in great need. To provide users with the conformation of mobility and the support of Quality of Service (QoS) demands immediate attention. In the fixed networks, the resource ReSerVation Protocol establishes and maintains a reservation state to ensure a given QoS level between the sender and receiver. In the wireless networks, host mobility leads to handoff between different domains of access point. As a result, the original route path is changed and RSVP doesn’t consider this in its original design.

In our approach, we propose a new resource reservation method for wireless networks. With the agent-based architecture, the reserved resource of users is managed and maintained by a set of RSVP Agents. The setup procedure and handoff procedure are described separately. Our proposed protocol can solve some problems of RSVP in wireless networks. Finally, we evaluate the performance by using the network simulator-2 (ns2) to compare with related researches. In the simulation results, when we apply the agent-based architecture, the blocking probability and forced termination probability are decreased. Furthermore, we achieve the improvements without sacrificing the efficiency.
