近年來由於網際網路的風行導致於電子商務環境的蓬勃發展，原有的EDI交易環境已經漸漸不敷使用，其系統封閉的特性，更無法滿足使用者在開放的商務環境裡尋求電子商務運作之需求。而具備完整結構與豐富語意特性的可延伸式標示語言(XML)自提出以來，就以雷霆萬鈞之勢，入侵各行各業，尤其是在資訊整合與電子商務應用上，更是廣受矚目，頗有成為新一代網際網路與電子商務標準語言之潛力。而目前存在的網際網路的電子商務系統，整合性的電子商務架構並不多見，大部分的電子商務系統都是針對某一個公司的商務系統進行設計，各個電子商務的系統散佈在網際網路的一隅，無法溝通。在這個前提下，一個跨企業整合性的電子商務系統的設計就變得相當的重要。於是本篇論文提出了一套以XML為基礎之跨企業工作流管理系統架構，以及一個商業活動模式化的描述結構。我們利用圖形化的描述方式來設計流程控制圖件、活動圖件與工作流的樣版做為商業模式化工具，為了達到自動化執行跨企業商業活動的目的，我們設計了將活動控制圖轉換成我們所制訂之XML工作流規格的演算法。經過比較與分析，我們所提出的架構的確能夠為跨企業整合性電子商務活動帶來更多的便利性、彈性與節省更多的人力資源，同時提高使用者在進行企業間商務活動時的管理與執行效率。

Most companies have their own proprietary information system that operate on their own with limited degree of information exchange using EDI standard. The current status of the cross enterprise EC can only be described as rudimentary. The level of integration and automation is of course quite low. On the other hand, XML has invaded almost all areas that are related to the internet, ever since its debut. Especially in the information integration and electronic commerce world, XML is attracting people’s attention that no other languages can. It is becoming the next standard language of the internet beyond HTML. It is also quickly becoming the standard for information exchange. The goal of this thesis is to develop XML-based technology for cross enterprise automatic information exchange and workflow management over the internet. We designed a visual tool named activity control diagram for business modeling. An activity control diagram is composed of activity notations, workflow control notations and workflow patterns. For automating the cross enterprise business process, we designed an algorithm to translate an activity control diagram into an XML workflow specification as well as the workflow engine for its execution. Preliminary implementation and evaluation results demonstrate that our tool and system can significantly simplify cross enterprise business modeling and workflow management.
