為了讓網路學習營造如同在教室上課的氣氛,強化合作學習的功能,增強學習者間的網路社交活動,勢必需要一種機制,讓學習者知道學習伙伴的存在,以利於學習者間的溝通。如果缺乏這層機制,則學習者必須先行進入聊天室,運氣好時,有其他學習者已經在聊天室討論,則可以參與討論;否則,當沒有人在聊天室時,也只能透過留言版或電子郵件來提出問題,然後等待回答了。當學習者於學習上遇到問題時,透過這機制能即時邀請其他學習伙伴或助教進入聊天室或電子白版一起討論。
本研究所實作的「訊息代理人」,目的是來完成這一學習者間的互動機制,作為學習者進入聊天室討論的先前搓合媒介,透過網路教學平台上的「訊息代理人」,提供線上學習者的背景資料,以協助學習者能快速的找到可以立即討論的學習伙伴,以營造及增進合作學習的功能,並增強學習者間的網路社交層面,提升整體學習成效。本研究以JAVA程式語言為開發訊息代理人的工具,搭配JADE代理人開發平台及CORBA分散式架構,來實作訊息代理人系統,可作為未來網路教學平台持續擴充代理人功能的基礎。
本研究的主要貢獻有二,一為增強即時互動機制,讓學習者可以跟相同興趣的學習者進行即時溝通;二為建立異質化網路教學平台資料庫,實現網路教學平台資料庫透明化服務。
