水中生產在國外已有二、三十年的歷史，在台灣近三年來陸陸續續有婦女採取此種方式生產，本研究主要探討產婦在選擇水中生產決策過程中的主觀經驗。以現象學方式進行，於一家採行水中生產的助產所收集資料，共選取九位於一年內順利完成水中生產的產婦為研究對象，進行一對一，面對面的深度訪談。研究工具為基本資料問卷、半結構開放式訪談指引，及紀錄訪談全部過程的錄音機。
將訪談的內容轉錄為文本後，根據Giorgi 心理現象學研究法進行資料分析，並依循Lincoln 和 Guba 所提的質性研究嚴謹度。本研究由個案所描述的經驗脈絡中，歸納出四個主要概念：一、不滿醫療現況；二、展現自主性；三、考慮親友的態度；四、運用策略達成目的。本研究結果可提供醫護人員及國人對水中生產產婦有多一層的了解與認識，並期望重新反思現處的生產環境是否符合婦女對人性化生產的需求。

Water Birth has been one way of birth for 20 to 30 years abroad, while in Taiwan, only in the past three years have some women chosen water birth. This study aims to explore the decision-making experience of mothers selecting waterbirth. The phenomenology approach was employed in this study. Nine mothers who have given birth in water successfully in one midwife clinic in the past year were chosen for one-by-one, face-to-face interviews were conducted. The research tools include the basic information questionnaire, a semi-structured and open-ended interview guide, and an audio-recorder to record the entire interviews.
The content of the interview was faithfully transcribed and analyzed with Giorgi’s phenomenological method and Lincoln and Guba’s qualitative credibility. Four main concepts were concluded from the experience context of the studied women: 1. Feel unsatisfactory with existing obstetric practices; 2. Demonstrate autonomy; 3. Consider family’s attitude; 4. Employ strategies to achieve goals. The result of this study will： Help nursing staff and the public to understand the decision making experience of mothers selecting waterbirth , and the contemplation of health care providers with respect to furnishing a more humanized birth environment in hospitals.
