海德格對於真理的本質的剖析，始於對於傳統真理概念的解構與反思。本文依循海德格在《存有與時間》以及〈論真理的本質〉中對於真理的探問，試圖釐清海德格對於傳統真理概念的討論及其哲學中的「存有真理」。而這兩者間關連的建立亦是本文所要處理的主題之一。
海德格在《存有與時間》以及〈論真理的本質〉中採用了相同的方式對傳統真理概念進行解構，解構的目的是要指出真理符應說在存有論上的基礎，並透過這個進路引導出他自身的真理概念。在《存有與時間》第四十四節中，海德格將真理理解為此有的實存活動，原初的真理現象在對於此有所做的實存範疇分析時便已經被揭示。另一方面，在所謂的「轉向」之後，海德格則是傾向於透過無蔽來對真理與存有進行思考，並且將本質思維的重心放在存有的敞開或開顯之上，關於這些概念，本文主要透過海德格在《巴門尼德斯》講稿中所指出的四個指引來進一步說明。
對於無蔽的反思，亦關連到海德格對於古希臘哲學的解讀。在柏拉圖以及亞理斯多德那裡被建立起來的西方形上學，在海德格的眼中，其實是代表著虛無主義的開端以及對於存有的遺忘。藉由對於希臘哲學的研究，海德格試著要回復古希臘時期對於無蔽的基本經驗，並指出西方傳統形上學在存有問題上的限制所在。
