本研究旨在分別探討，台南市獨生與非獨生學童之依附關係與生活適應變項的差異，以及其依附關係與生活適應兩變項之間的關係。以台南市十四所公立小學四年級和六年級之獨生與非獨生學童為研究對象，共計464名。本研究採用問卷調查法蒐集資料，所使用的研究工具包括「父母同儕依附行為量表」與「國小學童生活適應量表」。調查所得資料分別以三因子變異數分析，和皮爾遜積差相關進行資料處理。本研究的主要發現如下：
一、在依附關係的差異方面，獨生學童在「父親依附關係」、「母親依附關係」上，優於非獨生學童。另外，在「同儕依附關係」上獨生女童優於非獨生女童，亦優於獨生男童，但在性別、年級上的差異，均未達顯著水準。
二、在生活適應的差異方面，獨生學童在「親和力」、「社會適應」、「功課與遊戲的調適」、「生活目標」、「情緒穩定性」以及「心理堅忍度」等方面，均優於非獨生學童，其中除了「功課與遊戲的調適」一項四年級優於六年級，其餘在性別、年級上的差異，均未達顯著水準。另外，在「自我接受度」上，獨生女童優於非獨生女童，且非獨生男童亦優於非獨生女童，但在性別、年級上的差異，均未達顯著水準。在「生活適應總得分」上，獨生女童優於非獨生女童，亦優於獨生男童，但在性別、年級上的差異，均未達顯著水準。
三、在依附關係與活適應的相關方面，獨生與非獨生學童在父親、母親、同儕依附關係上與生活適應皆呈現顯著正相關。
本研究根據以上的研究結果加以討論，並針對理論、實務及研究三方面，分別提出各項建議，以供從事獨生學童研究、輔導之參考。

This research study wants to investigate the difference and the relationship between single children and non-single children’s attachment and life adjustment in Tainan city. Subjects are single children and non-single children in fourth grade and sixth grade from 14 public elementary schools within Tainan city. Total number of subjects is 464. This research uses questionnaire for gathering data. The research instruments include “The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment” and “The Revision of Elementary School Children Life Adjustment”. The data gathered are processed using mult- variate analysis with three-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation. The following are the major findings.
I. In the difference of attachment, single children were superior to non-single children in both “father attachment” and “mother attachment”. In addition, in peer attachment, single female children were superior to both non-single female children and single male children，but no significant difference was found in gender and grade difference.
II. In life adjustment, single children were superior to non-single children in the following categories: affiliation, social adjustment, adjustment in study and game-play, life goal, emotional stability, and neurosis. No significant difference was found in gender and grade except in adjustment in study and game-play, fourth graders were superior to six graders. In addition, in self-acceptance, single female children were superior to non-single female children. Also, non-single male children were superior to non-single female children, however, no significant difference was found in gender and grade. In total points for life adjustment, single female children were superior to non-single female children and single male children, but again, no significant difference was found in gender and grade.
III. In attachment and life adjustment, Both single children and non-single children in “father attachment”, “mother attachment” and “peer attachment” were positively correlated with life adjustment.
This researcher, based on the results found, would discuss and give theoretical, practical and research related suggestions as references for those who would like to research more into single children and counsel them.
