摘要
根據近年第二語言習得領域的詞彙習得研究，一般對詞彙習得的分析可以從詞彙量和詞彙知識 (Cronbach,1942; Richard, 1976; Nation, 1990)兩方面進行。本論文從兩方面，探討漢語作為第二語言學習者對於漢語詞彙的習得，並採用橫斷分析法(cross-sectional design)比較不同程度學習者，對同一組目標詞的習得深度，並歸納出詞彙習得的可能歷程。
我們採用中華民國教育部編印的『八十七年口語語料調查報告書』中的高頻詞，作為詞彙量測驗的測試詞彙來源，分析詞彙量與學習者的漢語程度之間的關係。結果顯示詞彙量大小與學習者的漢語程度呈現中度正相關的趨勢(r=0.45)。
接著我們針對由詞表測驗中篩選出來的八個目標詞，根據Vanniarajan (1997)的詞彙知識架構設計測量詞彙知識的測驗，以進一步觀察不同程度學習者在詞彙知識上的差異。Vanniarajan (1997)的詞彙知識架構分為三個層次，包括詞彙的基本知識、構詞/句法及概念意義三個層面。測驗的內容據此設計為聽力（音形聯結）、寫出字音（形音聯結）、造詞（構詞）、語序（句法）、配合題（組合、聚合關係/整體組織）、字義（概念意義）六大項。
在詞彙知識方面，透過不同類型的詞彙知識測驗，我們觀察到漢語學習者對於掌握詞彙內部的知識有其層次性。以測驗的六大項目作為整體詞彙能力的六項指標來看，初級受試者以詞彙的音形聯結及形音聯結最為穩固；中級受試者在聽力、寫出字音方面得分與初級受試者相比沒有顯著差異，但在語序、字義兩個部分得分則明顯高於初級組；高級受試者在三組受試者中，是詞彙知識發展最均衡，表現得最好的一組。根據三組受試者對同一組目標詞的六項詞彙知識呈現，我們歸納出在學習初期，學習者對於詞彙的基本知識，特別是字形與字音之間的連結建立的最早；隨著學習時間的延長，學習者對於詞彙發展的注意力由形式的連結轉移到語義的連結，因而產生形音方面的偏誤；然而，當學習者的漢語水平達到高級程度時，詞彙知識的六個面向的得分均比初、中級來得高，而且呈現均衡發展的趨勢。
