青少年 ”adolescence” 這個字，源自於拉丁語的 ”adolescere”，原義是成長、生長至成熟或成長至成熟期轉引自張淑綺因此所謂青少年就是指兒童期至成人期中間的成長過度階段
青少年究竟是指幾歲至幾歲的年齡層？各家說法不一。 依據中華民國法律，在民法總則中，以滿20歲為成年； 刑法為18歲，所以一般在習慣上，指12至18歲或20歲者為青少年，,但也有部分調查研究將青少年的範圍拉長到24歲，如行政院青輔會所出版的 ”青少年白皮書” 中，定義為12歲至21歲；由行政院主計處與青輔會合編的 ”青少年狀況調查報告”，調查對象橫跨12至24歲。
本研究的研究對象為台灣地區的青少年族群，藉由文獻探討與街頭觀察的結果，歸納出青少年流行文化的發展及特色，並加以符號化，作為插圖圖像創造的元素 。
研究的重點主要在於塑造人物，藉由對青少年流行文化的認知及觀察，試圖創造屬於青少年族群的人物角色，亦即所創造出的人物圖像，無論在穿著、裝扮或行為表現上，都必須符合時下青少年的特性，並以這些人物為圖像藍本， 為台北市的形象代言， 為台北市表現年輕、有活力、酷、帥，具有流行感的一面。
插圖中的背景取材，皆源自於台北市的實景，寫實且強調空間感的表現方式， 有別於人物圖像平塗的技法，藉由兩種不同的技法,試圖表現出人物與空間的差異。

The word “adolescene” is originated from “adolescere” in Latin, whose meaning is growing to be mature. So we can define “adolescene” as the process betweenchildhood and adulthood.
Exactly, what age group do juveniles fit with? There are several different opinions.
According to the General Principles of Civil Code R.O.C, a person over 20 is defined as an adult, while a person over 18 is defined so in the Criminal Code. Generally, a juvenile is a person from 12 to 18, or 12 to 20. But in some publications by theNational Youth Commission and the DGBAS Executive Yuan, the age range is wider as 12 to 21, or 12 to 24.
This research is focused on the juveniles in Taiwan. By analyzing the former researches and observations on street, the main features of popular culture is found and symbolized as an element in illustration.
The very focus of this research is to create whole new characters belonging to the juvenile popular culture. These characters dress and behave like the juveniles in Taipei, showing the energy, power and latest fashion of the city.
All the background in the illustrations are real scenes in Taipei, presented in a
realistic way to show the three-dimensional space, while all the characters are in flat plane. The characters could be distinguished from the background in this way.
